Thanks for all those who entered the Great Opening Bits writing competition and deepest apologies for the time it's taken for me to announce the winner...The judge for this competition was trainee supervillain, film scholar and writer of Westerns, horror, adventure and gothic fiction Icy Sedgwick. You can find out more about her work at www.icysedgwick.com
And now, for the winner...who is, and always shall be known to the world as Rabid Fox (or Wagthefox if you're on Twitter.
From my bedroom window in the house where I grew up, I used to watch the hayfield sway with a gentle wind. Gusts like angels raced through the grass. I wished I could run with them, follow them to whatever heaven they called home, but the house is gone now, the field fallow, and I'm fairly sure I'm dead. I'm not breathing, anyway.
Rabid will be getting a £30 (or dollar equivalent) gift voucher to use on Amazon.
Thanks again for all of you who entered.

Congrats Rabid Fox! That truly was a brilliant entry and deserving of the win!! Enjoy!

Very nice opening, Rabid Fox. If it were an election you'd have gotten my vote as well.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!
Woot! Thanks a lot. I wasn't terribly optimistic about my chances, given some of the entries I read when I entered the competition, so I'm especially grateful.
ReplyDeleteWell played, Rabid fox. Until next time...
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Rabid Fox! A great opener.
